A Family-Owned Hotel In South Iceland
360 Hotel opened in South Iceland, an hour from Reykjavík and 15 minutes from Selfoss. The property sits within reach of the Golden Circle and the South Coast. Two Icelandic families own it and run it.
Hospitality & Catering News reported the reopening on 5 October 2026 and described a transformation of the countryside property. Hotel News Resource carried the opening notice the same day.
Thirty-One Individually Designed Rooms And Suites
The hotel holds 31 rooms and suites, and each one carries its own furniture, colours and textiles. Hospitality & Catering News puts the range at 27 sq m for a Terrace Room and 100 sq m for the 360 Suite. The suite holds two bedrooms, two bathrooms and panoramic views.
The same report counts three Junior Queen rooms with two queen beds and three sets of connecting rooms. Guestrooms carry heated floors and nightly turndown service.
Timber Panelling, Turf And Moroccan Wool
Interior designer Guðbjörg Anna Árnadóttir led the interiors. She is the sister of one of the owners. Timber panelling references older Icelandic buildings and settlements, and turf, fireplaces, natural materials and textured finishes run through the property.
Some rooms hold Moroccan wool rugs, woven by women artisans near the Atlas Mountains to patterns Árnadóttir designed.
Every guestroom carries a poster inspired by Rafskinna, an electrically operated display Gunnar Bachmann built for a Reykjavík shop window in 1932. The display turned its own pages, and Icelandic artists illustrated them. Bachmann was the grandfather of one of the owners. The two families trace their ancestry to the same great-great-great grandparents.
No Televisions, And A Cinema Instead
Guestrooms carry no televisions. The hotel holds a cinema, and books and games sit throughout the property.
Hnaus Restaurant And Chef Hinrik Örn Lárusson
Hnaus Restaurant holds 80 seats and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Executive Chef Hinrik Örn Lárusson leads the kitchen. He was named Icelandic Chef of the Year in 2024.
He grew up at his family's Hotel Hekla in South Iceland and returned to the region for the 360 Hotel kitchen. The kitchen draws dairy from the family-run Gunnbjarnarholt farm and lamb from neighbouring farms. Hnaus is the Icelandic word for mound, and it names the land under the hotel.
The restaurant offers chef's table dinners and gourmet picnics for guests travelling across South Iceland. Handmade pottery at Hnaus comes from an Icelandic foundation that teaches pottery skills to women in Sierra Leone.
Two Geothermal Pools In A 350-Square-Metre Wellness Area
The wellness area measures 350 sq m, or 3,767 sq ft. It holds two geothermal hot pools, and a nearby farm supplies their water. Two saunas, one of them infrared, sit alongside cold plunge facilities, treatment rooms and relaxation spaces. A gym and a yoga studio are also available.
The hotel runs a Northern Lights Wake Up Service. Staff monitor conditions and alert guests when the aurora appears.
