The first Curio Collection resort in Hawai’i
Hilton opened Hale Hōkūala Kaua’i, Curio Collection by Hilton on 30 September 2026. The 210-room resort is Curio Collection’s first property in Hawai’i. It sits inside the Hōkūala Resort community and overlooks Nāwiliwili Bay beside Kalapakī Beach.
The property holds 23 suites. Guest rooms carry floor-to-ceiling windows and private lānais. Views take in the Pacific Ocean, Hā’upu Mountain and the Ocean Course at Hōkūala. The name means House of the Rising Star.
Hilton reports the opening lifts its presence in the islands to nearly 30 hotels. That set includes Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikīkī Beach Resort, Ka La’i Waikīkī Beach, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Waikoloa Village and Grand Wailea Maui, A Waldorf Astoria Resort.
Danny Hughes on the brand arrival
“The opening of Hale Hōkūala Kaua’i marks an exciting milestone as we introduce Curio Collection by Hilton to Hawai’i,” said Danny Hughes, president, Americas, Hilton. Hughes said Hilton has welcomed guests to the islands for more than six decades and that the new resort reflects the culture and spirit of Kaua’i.
Brooke Thomas, brand leader for Curio Collection by Hilton, said the resort pairs contemporary island design, a distinctive culinary point of view and programming that celebrates local people and traditions.
Figueira and The Wiliwili
Figueira is the signature restaurant. It overlooks the 18th hole of the Ocean Course at Hōkūala. Hilton calls it Kaua’i’s Portuguese-Hawaiian dining concept. The menu lists Pineapple French Toast with Kuleana Rum caramel, Kaua’i prawns, Portuguese Fisherman’s Stew, bacalhau no forno, pastel de nata and malasadas.
The Wiliwili serves poolside. Its menu carries poke bowls, plate lunch specials, shave ice, shareable pūpū, tropical cocktails, juices and smoothies. StiR Creative Collective, Hilton’s in-house food and beverage consultancy, developed both venues.
Executive Chef Hans Lentz and Director of Food and Beverage Romina Migliorini lead the culinary program.
E Ala Ka Pilina and the Kaua’i Museum
The resort’s cultural program is named E Ala Ka Pilina, or The Awakening of Connection. It was built with local practitioners, educators, historians, artisans, nonprofits and community organizations. The Kaua’i Museum is the inaugural partner for a series on the island’s history and creative expression.
Later programming will cover agriculture, lei making, traditional aquaculture, land stewardship, hula and Hawaiian storytelling.
Golf, trails and the Hōkūala community
On property, guests have a pool and fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts, and access to a full-service spa within the wider Hōkūala community. Preferred tee times are available at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Ocean Course at Hōkūala. The resort lists more than five miles of trails, complimentary bicycles, beach amenities and open green space.
Guests can also visit The Farm at Hōkūala, which shows canoe plants, native crops and agricultural traditions. The resort sits near Līhu’e Airport and within reach of Hanalei Bay, Waimea Canyon and Kōke’e State Park.
Event space and the opening package
The resort holds more than 14,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. Open-air venues carry ocean and mountain views. Hale Hōkūala participates in Hilton Honors. The Kaua’i Island Escape package takes 25 percent off the best available rate on stays of three nights or longer.
The ownership behind the project
Silverwest Hotels owns the resort and Hilton manages it. Hart Howerton designed the building with AHL, formerly Architects Hawaii Limited, and Looney & Associates handled interiors.
