IHG Hotels & Resorts signed a management agreement with Kleek Development on 12 October 2026 for a 250-key Crowne Plaza hotel in Sixth Settlement, New Cairo. The hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2031. IHG published the release with a Dubai dateline.
A management agreement with Kleek Development
The signing places a Crowne Plaza inside one of Egypt's fastest-growing districts, on the release's own account. Hotel News Resource carried the same announcement on 12 October 2026 under its development desk.
Emaar Al Delta and Modern Style Home
Kleek Development is a joint venture between Emaar Al Delta for Contracting and Real Estate Investment and Modern Style Home Real Estate Company. Eng. Hussein Dawoud, chief executive of Kleek Development, said the company holds confidence in one of the capital's most dynamic districts and sees a clear opportunity to create a high-quality destination there.
Arqam Magazine titles Dawoud founder and chairman of Kleek Developments. The release reads chief executive.
Two hundred and fifty keys in Sixth Settlement
The hotel takes 250 keys in a mix of guest rooms and suites. It sits inside a mixed-use corridor planned to serve East Cairo's business, commercial and residential communities. The release ties the site to infrastructure investment, population growth and demand from domestic and international businesses across New Cairo.
Four dining venues and six event spaces
Four dining venues are planned, among them an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge and a bar. Six meeting and event spaces take in meeting rooms and a dedicated ballroom for strategy sessions and celebrations. Leisure facilities cover a swimming pool, a fitness centre, a spa and retail space.
The release names three of the four dining venues. Arqam Magazine adds a specialty restaurant as the fourth, so that venue rests on the Egyptian report alone.
Plaza Workspace and the WorkLife Room
The hotel will carry two Crowne Plaza concepts. Plaza Workspace reworks the traditional hotel lobby around dedicated areas for guests' personal and professional needs. The WorkLife Room brings separate zones for work, relaxation and sleep.
Crowne Plaza sits in IHG's premium portfolio alongside Noted Collection, voco and Ruby.
Haitham Mattar on the market
Haitham Mattar, managing director for India, Middle East & Africa at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said New Cairo is evolving rapidly as investment in businesses, communities and infrastructure strengthens its commercial position. He said that growth creates greater demand for internationally branded hotels that serve business and leisure guests, and that Crowne Plaza suits a market where guests mix work and downtime.
Arqam Magazine titles Mattar president for India, Middle East and Africa. The release reads managing director.
Ten IHG hotels in Egypt, 28 in the pipeline
IHG operates 10 hotels in Egypt and holds 28 more in the pipeline, per the release. The company counts 21 brands, more than one million rooms across 7,100 hotels in over 100 countries, and a development pipeline of a further 2,400 properties. IHG One Rewards carries more than 160 million members, and about 400,000 people work across the group's hotels and corporate offices.
What the signing leaves open
The release carries no construction start, no project cost, no room-type split and no separate hotel name beyond the brand and the district. Zawya and Travel Trade News carry the same TradeArabia News Service text, so they count as one source. Hotel Management Network and Arqam Magazine carried independent bylines on the signing.
The record holds two other Crowne Plaza items: the Crowne Plaza Paris Marne-la-Vallee opening of 24 September 2026, and the 16 September 2026 signing that covered Crowne Plaza Newcastle and Hotel Indigo Gosford.
