HAMA Releases Fall 2026 Industry Outlook Survey
The Hospitality Asset Managers Association released the results of its Fall 2026 Industry Outlook Survey on 13 October 2026. The release carries a Washington, D.C. dateline and reports the combined opinions, experiences and predictions of 72 asset managers.
HAMA calls the survey a semi-annual report. Its stated topics run from revenue per available room and gross operating profit expectations to the impact of recent geopolitical events and rising energy costs. The association describes the 72 respondents as approximately one-third of its membership.
HAMA released the findings during its 2026 Annual Fall Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona. HAMA's own events listing dates the Fall 2026 Conference to 1-2 October 2026.
97 Percent Expect RevPAR Growth Into 2027
Dina Winder, HAMA president, said in the release: "While the international political situation continues to be worrisome to our members, industry fundamentals remain strong and recession concerns remain muted. Looking forward, the optimism continues, with 97% of respondents expecting RevPAR growth to continue into 2027."
The 97 percent figure is the survey's forward-looking number, and it carries Winder's framing. The same statement reports marked increases in revenue per available room and gross operating profit for a majority of respondents across 2026 to date.
Costs Hold the Margin
HAMA names demand, wage increases and labor availability as the three most-cited concerns among respondents. Insurance cost has returned to that leading set after several years near the bottom of the list. The release attributes the move to the rising cost of liability coverage.
Winder's statement pairs the revenue and profit increases with costs that continue to strain margin.
The Concern List Moves Between Editions
The Spring 2026 edition of the same survey drew 86 HAMA members and was published on 6 May 2026. Its own release named demand, Iran War/Conflict and wage increases as the three most concerning issues. It carried a recession measure of just over 16 percent expecting a United States recession in 2026, against 37 percent in the Fall 2025 survey and 49 percent in the Spring 2025 survey.
Both editions state the respondent count as approximately one-third of membership. HAMA released each during its own Annual Meeting, the Spring in Washington, D.C. and the Fall in Scottsdale.
71 Percent Report Meaningful AI Use
71 percent of respondents report their hotel or hotels are using AI in a meaningful way for reporting or analysis. HAMA places that figure inside its highlighted results, and the question measures a reporting and analysis function.
The Day-Use Lines the Survey Does Not Carry
The survey states no day-use line. It reports no hourly rate, no daytime window, no part-day occupancy figure and no revenue figure for a part-day slot. Its two stated metrics, RevPAR and gross operating profit, measure the overnight room sale across a full night.
The three most-cited concerns are demand, wages and labor availability, and none of them names the daytime segment or its inventory.
The Phoenix Market's Day-Use Shelf
Dayuse.com listed 24 day-use hotels on its Scottsdale page on 15 October 2026. That page's own prices ran from US$71.00 to US$189.00 for a daytime slot, and its card list carried properties in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa and Phoenix.
HAMA released this edition in Scottsdale, and the association's survey covers hotels across the United States.
