Hyatt Centric Sapporo opens as Hokkaido's first Hyatt Centric

Hyatt opened Hyatt Centric Sapporo on 3 October 2026 with 216 rooms in a 26-storey tower, and its member offer runs to 31 October for stays to 31 December.

Hyatt Centric arrives in Hokkaido

Hyatt Hotels Corporation opened Hyatt Centric Sapporo on 3 October 2026. The release, datelined Chicago, calls the property the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Hokkaido and the brand's first address in the island capital.

Hyatt's 2022 announcement of the project places Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo and Hyatt Centric Kanazawa earlier in Japan. NTT Urban Development, the building owner, calls the Sapporo hotel Hyatt Hotels Corporation's first hotel in the city.

The release describes Sapporo as the urban gateway to Hokkaido's ski resorts, hot springs and national parks.

216 rooms on floors 17 to 26

The hotel occupies part of the first floor and floors 17 to 26 of the 26-storey Urbannet Sapporo Link Tower. NTT Urban Development gives the address as 1-4, Kita 1-jo Nishi 5-chome, Chuo-ku.

The inventory runs to 216 guestrooms and suites, including nine suites. Rooms measure 36 square meters (388 square feet) and more. Taisei Corporation built the tower, Kume Design designed it and BOND DESIGN STUDIO handled the hotel interiors. NTT Urban Development records completion in June 2026.

Hyatt's design concept is a modern "Northern Explorer's Residence". The reference is Takeshiro Matsuura, the explorer and cartographer credited with naming Hokkaido. The interiors include a wooden check-in counter made by a local artisan, straw artworks, reclaimed wood and a fireplace lounge.

Two restaurants and the Red Brick Building

Matsu Grill & Bar sits on the 17th floor with a show kitchen and wood-fired grilling in Mediterranean styles.

Mr. Fish by Hyatt Centric Sapporo occupies the ground floor near the former Hokkaido Government Office. It serves fish and chips made with seasonal white fish from Hokkaido waters, locally grown potatoes and craft beer. The cafe also offers takeout, including fish burgers and churros.

The hotel stands next to the Akarenga-chosha, the former Hokkaido Government Office Building known as the Red Brick Building, and near Odori Park. Odori subway station sits a few minutes away through an underground walkway, and JR Sapporo Station is about a 10-minute walk.

The opening offer and its booking window

Hyatt opened a New Hotel Member Bonus Offer for the debut. Guests book directly with Hyatt by 31 October 2026 for stays between 3 October and 31 December 2026. The offer takes 15 percent off the qualifying stay and 17 percent for World of Hyatt members.

It adds complimentary daily breakfast for each registered guest and a JPY 3,000 hotel credit per room, per stay. The credit is redeemable at Matsu Grill & Bar, Mr. Fish, in-room dining or the minibar. Members who book the offer earn double World of Hyatt points on eligible room rates and incidental charges.

A second window sits on NTT Urban Development's August 2026 release. That document states reservations opened for stays from 1 December 2026. It dates from before the opening, and the release's offer now covers stays from 3 October.

What the release leaves open

Hyatt publishes no room rate, no construction cost and no developer for the tower. Ownership sits with NTT Urban Development Corporation, and NTT Urban Development Hotel Management Corporation operates the hotel.

The property runs the brand's Local Insiders program with a seasonal map and daily picks. Yuki Takimura, the general manager, said the hotel is designed as a starting point for exploration and that the team will help guests find local flavors, cultural traditions and seasonal experiences.
