Montara Hotel opens as Central America's first Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Hilton opened the 97-room Montara Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in the mountains of Heredia, Costa Rica, the brand's first property in Central America.

A Tapestry Collection debut for Central America

Hilton announced the opening of Montara Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton on 24 September 2026. Hilton states that the property is the first Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel in Costa Rica and in Central America. The release reached trade readers through Hotel Online on 29 September 2026.

"The continued growth of Tapestry Collection by Hilton across Caribbean and Latin America reflects the increasing demand for hotels that offer a strong sense of place and a deeper connection to the destination," said Maxime Verstraete, vice president, brand management, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton.

Tapestry Collection sits in Hilton's Lifestyle portfolio with Curio Collection by Hilton and Outset Collection by Hilton. Hilton operates 315 hotels and resorts across more than 35 countries and territories in the Caribbean and Latin America, and it holds a pipeline of 150 properties in development.

97 rooms in the Heredia mountains

The hotel holds 97 rooms, and 38 of them are suites. It sits on approximately 540,000 square feet of grounds with more than 130,000 square feet of built facilities. The property overlooks the Central Valley.

Guest rooms carry private balconies and firepits. The hotel sits approximately 13 miles, or 20 kilometres, from Juan Santamaria International Airport and downtown San Jose. Braulio Carrillo National Park, Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens sit nearby.

Four food and beverage concepts

Bosco is the signature restaurant. It pairs international influences with seasonal Costa Rican ingredients and buys from farmers, artisans and producers in Heredia and the surrounding communities. An organic garden supplies herbs and seasonal vegetables.

Santoro is a steakhouse led by chef Regis Molina. The kitchen serves cuts and fire-based cooking from an open counter. The 1998 Lobby Bar serves cocktails and curated beverages. A juice bar near the pool and fitness areas serves fresh drinks.

A 13,200-square-foot spa and 12,700 square feet of event space

The spa measures 13,200 square feet. Open-air decks, meditation areas and private nature trails sit alongside the treatment rooms. The hotel holds approximately 12,700 square feet of event space for corporate retreats, social events, celebrations and weddings. Chef Regis Molina leads the culinary side.

Art, solar power and water reuse

Costa Rican artists produced a collection commissioned for the property. The set includes work by Mario Maffioli, a National Painting Award recipient, and Fabio Herrera, whose work is represented in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Solar panels run for self-consumption. Lighting is 100 per cent LED. Maintenance and landscaping equipment runs on electric power. A wastewater treatment plant supports water reuse for irrigation, and the grounds collect rainwater. Hydration stations are designed to remove single-use plastics.

The former Hotel La Condesa site in San Rafael de Heredia

La Nación places the hotel in San Rafael de Heredia, on the site of the Hotel La Condesa. La Condesa closed in October 2014 and dismissed 120 workers. The newspaper reports a debt to the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social of about 266 million colones in employer-employee contributions.

The same report records a five-day temporary closure in September 2014 over 87 million colones in arrears. In October 2014, about 40 former employees arrived at the building with a judge and an embargo order.

Hilton describes the property as a revitalized local retreat.

Reservations and the rate line

La Nación reported in December 2025 that the Hilton website already accepted reservations, with availability from November 2026. Tico Times dates guest stays from 22 November 2026. La Nación put opening rates at around 140 dollars a night.
