Where the R-Series Serves
Vingcard launched the Vingcard R-Series door reader on 13 October 2026. The release carries a Stockholm dateline. Vingcard is an ASSA ABLOY company and sells access hardware for building openings.
The release names the locations the R-Series serves: revolving doors, parking garage barriers, elevators, sliding doors and gates. Each one is a point a property controls with staff or with a key.
A reader at those points carries the same credential check a guest room door already holds to the rest of the building.
Two widths and an outdoor rating
Buyers choose between a wide model and a narrow model. Vingcard's product page states that the narrow version fits most standard door frames, and that the finishes are natural, gold and black aluminium.
The outdoor version carries an IP65 rating. Vingcard publishes an operating range of minus 30 to plus 70 degrees Celsius, and the release states the reader withstands prolonged indoor use and extreme outdoor weather. The reader suits new construction and retrofit work. Installation uses USB-C programming, and the product page states the reader fills a new opening and replaces an existing reader.
The mobile-key path
The reader carries built-in Bluetooth Low Energy and Near Field Communication. Vingcard states that the R-Series sends app-stored mobile keys over BLE through Vostio and Visionline, and reads wallet keys over NFC through Vostio.
Guests store a key in a digital wallet and open a building entrance with a tap of a personal device. A guest receives and uses a mobile key without downloading a separate app.
The update path through Vostio
Vostio Access Management runs in the cloud. Vingcard states that each reader keeps the latest credential encryption protocols because Vostio Access Management receives automatic software updates at no additional cost.
The operator side of the release
Mike Rimmington, senior vice president and head of hospitality, gives the operator position in the release. He states that properties hold a responsibility to secure a safe environment and a second obligation to keep entry convenient for guests. His quotation credits the reader's durability and its compatibility with recent technology for extending security and guest experience through a property's premises.
The industries in the vendor's own copy
Vingcard states that the R-Series serves the hospitality, student accommodation and build-to-rent industries, and that residents and guests receive mobile keys. Vingcard's about page places the company inside ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions and states a global team of more than 2,500 employees in more than 160 countries.
The questions the release leaves open
The release publishes no price, no availability date and no named property. It carries no certification number for the reader and no third-party test result for the BLE or NFC credential paths. It states no service-level term and no lead time for a replacement unit.
Vingcard publishes no subscription terms for Vostio Access Management alongside the launch, and it puts no figure on the automatic updates it describes as free of charge.
A property weighing the reader against an installation already on site cannot price the change from the announcement. An engineering team cannot schedule a replacement round from it either, because the release names no delivery window and no model-by-model specification table.
What a property can act on now
An operator can check the openings the R-Series addresses against the property's own access plan. Elevators, garage barriers, gates, sliding doors and revolving doors are the five the release names.
An operator can also check the credential path in use. Vingcard ties the automatic update to Vostio Access Management, so the reader's encryption position depends on the access management system a property runs today.
