Centara puts Global Payments behind its Thailand checkout
Centara Hotels & Resorts posted the partnership on its own site on 6 October 2026. Global Payments Inc. supplies the cross-border payment step for Centara's Thailand estate.
The release names no individual property in that estate. It publishes no count of Centara's Thai hotels.
Multicurrency pricing across 153 currencies
Global Payments states the platform carries multicurrency pricing across 153 currencies and 200 payment types. It states the two parties will configure foreign-exchange sources and set rate locks. Global Payments owns both numbers. No third party has published a test of either.
Three terms stay open. The release does not name which currencies settle into which accounts, which rate source feeds the pricing, or how long a rate lock holds.
Transactions start in the fourth quarter of 2026
Transactions are expected to begin across Centara's Thailand properties in the fourth quarter of 2026. The release publishes no exact date, no migration schedule and no launch property by name.
What the two executives say
Phil Pomford, executive lead for Enterprise APAC at Global Payments, says travellers expect to find their own currency and their preferred payment method wherever they book. He says the same challenges faced the company's airline partners, and that the company is extending the cross-border solution to a hospitality brand.
Thirayuth Chirathivat, chief executive officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts, says the partnership strengthens Centara's direct guest relationships and loyalty. Centara's leaders page lists Thirayuth Chirathivat as chief executive officer.
The issuer's scale figure, published two ways
The Centara release states Global Payments manages approximately $3.7 trillion in transactions annually across more than 175 countries.
Global Payments' closing release for its Worldpay acquisition puts the same figure another way. It states the combined company processes $3.7 trillion in payment volume and approximately 94 billion transactions annually across more than 175 countries.
That release is dated 12 January 2026 and the transactions closed on 9 January 2026. Global Payments bought Worldpay from FIS and GTCR, and sold its Issuer Solutions business to FIS. The release names Cameron Bready as chief executive officer and states the combined company serves more than six million merchant locations.
Two distribution statistics with no named study
The release states online travel agencies account for 69% of hotel bookings in ASEAN, and that nearly 35% of hotel bookings in Southeast Asia come directly through hotel websites. It attributes the second figure to industry research. It names no study, no sample size and no year, and the two figures cover different geographies.
Centara's property count on four pages
The release states Centara offers more than 93 properties across 12 countries. Centara's about page reads 77 properties spanning 12 countries, with six brands and 13,000-plus rooms. Its brand page reads 85 properties in 12 countries. Its investor page reads 84 properties in operation and pipeline as of December 2025.
Thailand's 2025 visitor numbers
The release states Thailand welcomed 32.97 million international visitors in 2025. It publishes no comparison against 2024.
Open terms
The release publishes no price, no transaction fee, no settlement currency list and no contract term. It names no airline among the carrier relationships it cites. It publishes no certification for the interface and no independent test of the multicurrency path.
Centara's Thailand estate is the scope of the work. Neither party publishes a Thai property count.
