GreenStar Hotels puts five Finnish properties on Canary

Canary Technologies says GreenStar Hotels deployed its guest-management suite across five Finnish properties, while the chain's own page sets aside the carbon-neutral label the release uses.

GreenStar Hotels puts five Finnish properties on Canary Technologies

Canary Technologies announced that GreenStar Hotels selected its guest-management suite and deployed it across the chain's five hotels. The release carries a San Francisco dateline and the date 30 June 2026 on Canary's own press page.

Hospitality Ireland published the same body on 15 October 2026 under the byline Robert McHugh, with a closing line that reads "This article was written in partnership with Canary Technologies."

No commercial term is published. Canary states no licence fee and no contract length. GreenStar states no price.

Where the chain sits

GreenStar operates in Joensuu, Jyvaskyla, Lahti, Vaasa and Oulu. The chain's own hotel index lists those five cities.

All five hotels hold the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, GreenStar states. The label's criteria cover energy and water consumption, waste, chemicals and procurement. An independent organisation awards it and checks compliance.

What the suite covers

Canary's published scope for this deployment runs across five guest touchpoints. Guests check in and check out digitally. AI Guest Messaging answers guest messages in more than 100 languages. A Digital Compendium holds property information. Digital Tipping lets a guest recognise a staff member with a payment. Dynamic Upsells surface add-ons at the point of sale.

Manuel de la Torre, head of sales EMEA at Canary Technologies, said the chain advances its mission through the technology. Harri Nevalainen, business director at GreenStar Hotels, said the technology helps the company create a more convenient, connected guest experience and lets its teams operate more efficiently.

Both titles come from the release. Canary's own company pages carry no leadership list, and GreenStar's contact page names no personnel.

The arrival step the chain already runs

GreenStar's own services page describes check-in machines and states that a guest can arrive at a time that suits them. The release names no replaced system, no retired process and no change to staff numbers at any of the five hotels.

The carbon-neutral phrase on the two sites that carry it

Canary's release describes GreenStar as "Finland's first carbon-neutral hotel chain".

GreenStar's own sustainability page states that the chain finances certified climate projects through CO2 Eston and that the annual contribution exceeds the greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations. The next line reads: "This is a voluntary additional measure and does not reduce the emissions from our own hotels, which is why we do not call our hotels carbon neutral."

The same page gives the measurement basis. Sweco calculates the chain's greenhouse gas emissions twice a year under the GHG Protocol, across energy, refrigerants, waste management and breakfast. The calculation does not yet cover all procurement, including laundry services and cleaning. All five hotels draw 100 per cent emissions-free electricity verified with Guarantees of Origin, and some carry roof solar.

One supplier figure on two of its own pages

The release's About block reads "Trusted by over 20,000 hotels in 100+ countries". Canary's own home page reads "Trusted by over 20,000 Hotels in 125+ Countries". The hotel count matches on both pages. The country count differs between the vendor's own two pages, and neither page publishes a deployment count for GreenStar.

What the release does not state

The announcement names no go-live date for any property, no completion date and no measured result. It carries no guest-satisfaction figure for the chain. Canary cites no independent audit of the deployment, and GreenStar's own site carries no announcement of it.
