HBF Textiles has introduced First Principles, a six-pattern upholstery collection for contract interiors. The release carries the colorway names, the fiber contents and the abrasion ratings for Artisan, Bloc, Harmony, Notable Grain, Picnic Plaid and Still Life.

Six patterns for contract interiors

HBF Textiles has introduced First Principles, a six-pattern upholstery collection for contract interiors. Green Lodging News carried the Hickory, North Carolina mill's release on 30 September 2026.

The six patterns and the role each fills

Artisan works rhythm through a textured surface and a sketch-like repeat.

Bloc arranges several hues together and builds structure and focal points.

Harmony pairs 100 percent natural fiber with a two-tone palette.

Notable Grain brings a tonal faux-leather grain and keeps the versatility of a solid.

Picnic Plaid leans on a familiar construction and a considered scale.

Still Life is the collection's expressive entry. It draws on hand-painted artwork and takes its colorway names from painters.

The specification detail

Artisan: 53 percent polyacrylic and 47 percent polyester, made in Germany, 100,000 double rubs, bleach cleanable, upholstery.

Bloc: 100 percent polyester, made in the United States, 80,000 double rubs, bleach cleanable, upholstery.

Harmony: 100 percent wool, made in Italy, 100,000 double rubs, upholstery.

Notable Grain: a 100 percent polyurethane polycarbonate face, made in Japan, bleach cleanable, upholstery.

Picnic Plaid: 67 percent post-consumer recycled polyester and 33 percent polyester, made in the United States, bleach cleanable. Applications run to upholstery, wrapped panels and systems panels.

Still Life: 42 percent polyester, 21 percent nylon, 19 percent acrylic and 18 percent post-consumer polyester, made in the United States, 70,000 double rubs, bleach cleanable, upholstery.

The colorway names, kept as published

Artisan ships in 13 colorways. The names include Sketchbook and Spray Paint.

Bloc ships in five: Tone, Value, Tint, Hue and Shade.

Harmony ships in eight two-tone colorways: Rise & Fall, Light & Shadow, Sun & Moon, Earth & Sky, Give & Take, Day & Night, Past & Future and Ebb & Flow.

Notable Grain adds seven: Burgundy Wine, Blue Stone, Aegean Sea, Tropical Coral, Ginger Spice, Cold Brew and Black Olive.

Picnic Plaid adds seven: Blanket, Wicker Basket, Iced Tea, Backyard, Charcuterie, Blueberry Cobbler and Nightfall.

Still Life ships in seven: Henri, Mary, Claude, Vincent, Utagawa, Georgia and Maria.

Write each name into the specification as the mill publishes it. A substituted spelling breaks an FF&E schedule.

Two abrasion figures reproduced as published

Two abrasion figures in the release carry a shortened digit string. Notable Grain prints as 400,00 double rubs and Picnic Plaid as 100,00 double rubs. The other four entries print six figures: 100,000, 80,000, 100,000 and 70,000. Ask HBF to confirm the two shortened entries before they go into a schedule.

The day-use read

A day-use block turns the same room more than once in a day, so that room takes more cleaning cycles and more contact per day than an overnight room. Two published specifications bear on that duty. Abrasion is rated in double rubs. The release lists bleach-cleanable surfaces for Artisan, Bloc, Notable Grain, Picnic Plaid and Still Life; the Harmony entry carries no bleach-cleanable line. Panel applications are named for Picnic Plaid alone, which covers wrapped panels and systems panels. The release publishes no day rate, no hourly rate, no minimum stay and no per-block result.
