Four linear patterns on the Varia platform
3form has introduced Parallel, a collection of four linear patterns built on the company's Varia material platform. The Salt Lake City materials maker reproduces the look of reeded and textured glass at a lower cost, per the release. Green Lodging News carried 3form's release on 1 October 2026.
Four patterns, four optical effects
Cadence carries a half-inch repeat set one-eighth inch deep. 3form describes the effect as double-vision, in the manner of blinds or shades.
Fino runs fine micro-ripples on a one-eighth-inch linear repeat. The grooves sit 0.5mm deep. The surface reads as a subtle moire.
Vista uses a 12mm undulating repeat at 1mm depth. The ripple diffuses light across the panel.
Tribeca is the dual-sided entry. Its front repeat measures 2 inches and its back repeat 1 inch. Both sit 1mm deep. The rotated textures combine into a tartan-like surface. 3form calls Tribeca the highest-privacy pattern in the collection, and it also ships in etched glass.
Privacy and light as the specification
Each pattern differs in light refraction, object obscurity, depth and translucency. A specifier picks the level of privacy and the amount of light transmission the room needs. The collection arrives in a Clear colorway, and any pattern takes custom color. The range runs from the soft blues, greens and neutrals of antique glass to bolder hues. The bolder hues raise privacy.
Light passes through the panel and behind it. The vertical texture refracts and warps light and shadow. The effect shifts with viewing angle, with the surrounding light and with the scene beyond the panel.
Fabrication, cost and coordinated textures
Parallel panels are cut, shaped and suspended with minimal hardware. The textures retain their visual integrity when heat-formed. 3form rates the material for high-traffic areas, and names workplace, healthcare, hospitality and education as target settings. Named applications include standalone partitions, office fronts, and ceiling and wall features.
Cost is the stated reason for the collection. The release presents Parallel as a more cost-conscious route than traditional glass applications.
Select Parallel patterns carry coordinating textures across 3form Glass, Sola Felt and Profile. A designer can hold one linear language across several material platforms and simplify ordering.
What the two 3form voices say
Ryan Smith, chief creative officer at 3form, said reeded glass carries a quiet familiarity, and that designers have trusted the texture for decades for the privacy it gives and the natural light it keeps. He said Parallel keeps that feeling and frees it from the limits of glass, because the material can be shaped and suspended where glass is hard to integrate.
Dax Pettibone, a designer at 3form, said none of the four patterns tries to be loud, and that any of them can become the moment in a room.
The day-use read
A day-use block sells the same room more than once inside one day, and the daylight hours are the inventory. A panel that diffuses daylight and holds privacy lets a daytime room or a lobby workspace work in the sun. The Parallel privacy ladder is the specification to hold. Tribeca carries the highest obscurity in the collection, and Vista and Fino trade privacy for light. The named applications include office fronts and standalone partitions. The release publishes no day rate, no hourly rate, no minimum stay and no per-block result.
