The Corridor Opens at Four Lanes Each Way
I-65 on the southeast side of Indianapolis carries four travel lanes in each direction when the Safety and Efficiency project finishes. The corridor runs five miles from north of the I-465 interchange to just south of Washington Street. A travel lane is added in each direction from north of I-465 to just north of Fletcher Avenue, mostly on the existing inside shoulder. The southern third of the widening builds to the outside.
INDOT awarded the contract to Milestone Contractors, L.P. on 25 March 2025. The letting ran on 26 February 2025 and construction began on 20 May 2025, per INDOT's Financial Plan Annual Update. The project page states the work began in spring 2025 and is expected to be substantially complete at the end of 2026.
The Ramps a Daytime Booking Uses
The project page carries ramp status property by property. The Keystone Avenue ramps are complete in all directions, and the ramp from northbound I-65 to Morris and Prospect Streets was reconstructed in spring 2026. The southbound I-65 ramps at Raymond Street were reconstructed and are open to traffic. The northbound I-65 ramps at Raymond Street are closed for reconstruction, with reopening expected in early fall 2026.
Westbound Prospect Street is closed between the southbound I-65 on-ramp and the northbound I-65 off-ramp, with reopening expected by late September. The Fletcher Avenue exit closed on 21 September 2026 in a new southbound pattern. The southbound I-65/I-70 collector-distributor road is closed south of Ohio Street, the exits to Michigan and Ohio Streets stay open, and westbound I-70 is reached by continuing south on I-65. The project states the pattern will remain in place through late this year.
The 45 mph Zone and the Overnight Windows
A construction-zone speed limit of 45 mph remains active on I-65 for the duration of the work. Overnight closures run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The 21 September notice lists one lane closed on southbound I-65 between Washington Street and Fletcher Avenue on 23 and 24 September, and northbound I-65 reduced to two lanes between Fletcher and Washington Street on 25 and 26 September with the ramp from northbound I-65 to Washington Street closed.
Morning and afternoon slots run inside the daytime lane pattern. An overnight slot overlaps the 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. closure window, so the hotel's own access route decides whether that window is sellable.
The Day-Use Inventory Around the Corridor

Dayuse's Indianapolis page names Quality Inn & Suites Southport as its recommended hourly hotel. That page states the property sits next to Interstate 65 and a short distance from downtown Indianapolis, two minutes from the 36,000-square-foot Southport Antique Mall with its 200 vendors.

Cancellation terms and the payment point vary by property, and Dayuse lists free cancellation and payment at the hotel on its hourly listings.
No located source publishes a day-use rate for a property inside the corridor's five miles. No publisher splits a south-side submarket occupancy or average rate series either. The corridor's ramp schedule and the 45 mph limit are dated. The day-use rate a south-side property would charge inside the reopened corridor is not on the record.
