Kimpton's debut in the Italian capital
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a Kimpton property in Rome. It is the brand's first hotel in the Italian capital. The company expects the hotel to open in 2029.
IHG holds 21 hotel brands and more than 7,100 hotels across more than 100 countries. Its development pipeline holds a further 2,400 properties.
The Via Veneto address
The hotel will occupy an existing building in the Via Veneto area. It becomes IHG's third hotel in that district. IHG calls Via Veneto one of Rome's most prestigious districts and describes the project as a luxury lifestyle destination in the heart of the city.
La Revue des Hotels places the building at 57 Via Sicilia in the Ludovisi district, between Via Veneto and Piazza Barberini and near the Villa Borghese. The outlet describes a Rationalist corner building.
114 rooms and a rooftop bar
The property will hold 114 rooms. The published programme lists a rooftop bar, a restaurant, an internal courtyard, wellness facilities and dedicated meeting and event space.
The theatre returns as an arts venue
A defining feature of the hotel will be the restoration and reinvention of an existing theatre. IHG says the venue will become a multifunctional arts and events venue that serves both hotel guests and local residents.
La Revue des Hotels identifies the theatre as the former Teatro delle Arti. Anton Giulio Bragaglia directed the theatre from 1937, according to the same outlet.
Italy's fifty-plus milestone
The signing continues IHG's expansion in Italy. The company recently passed more than 50 open and pipeline properties in the country. IHG operates 33 hotels in Italy and holds 21 more in the pipeline. The release marks both numbers as of 30 June 2026.
The brand's second Italian hotel
The hotel will be the second Kimpton property in Italy, joining Kimpton Villa Miramare Taormina. It will add to 14 open and six pipeline Kimpton hotels across Europe.
Kimpton began in San Francisco in 1981. The release calls it the original boutique hotel brand and puts the brand at more than 75 hotels and more than 100 restaurants, bars and lounges worldwide.
The hotels already in the city
The hotel will join nine existing IHG properties in Rome. Two the release names are InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace and Six Senses Rome. The release also lists Hotel Alexandra Rome, Vignette Collection as an upcoming addition to the city.
