Oberoi details The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar, opening Q1 2027

Oberoi Hotels & Resorts has released the first details of The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar: 60 villas and 10 branded residences, opening in the first quarter of 2027.

A first hotel for Wadi Safar

Oberoi Hotels & Resorts has released the first details of The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar. The resort is under development in Wadi Safar, west of Riyadh. The operator says it will open in the first quarter of 2027 and will be the first hotel in the destination.

Diriyah Company is developing Wadi Safar. Both companies supplied quotes for the announcement.

Sixty villas and ten branded residences

The resort will hold 60 standalone villas and 10 branded residences. The villas form the hotel accommodation. The ten branded residences are the residential component of the same estate.

The escarpment and the estate

The property sits atop a 70-metre escarpment and spreads across more than 37 acres of landscaped terrain. Oberoi describes the design as inspired by Najdi architecture, with shaded courtyards, water features and a connection between indoor and outdoor living.

Wadi Safar lies about 30 minutes from Riyadh, close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif in Diriyah. UNESCO inscribed the At-Turaif District in ad-Dir'iyah on the World Heritage List in 2010. The announcement calls Diriyah the birthplace of the First Saudi State.

Aedas and Blink on the design

Aedas is the architect. Blink is the interior design studio. The announcement names both firms and credits them with the resort's craftsmanship and its regional references.

Yatra, Linnet and Beyla

Three named outlets anchor the dining programme. Yatra will serve contemporary Indian cuisine, curated by the Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai. Linnet covers artisanal pastries and cafe culture, led by the pastry chef Lily Vanilli. Beyla will serve international cuisine. A fourth venue serves poolside dining that overlooks the escarpment.

Wellness at ASMI by Oberoi

ASMI by Oberoi is the wellness programme. The facilities include hammams, indoor wellness pools and a fitness centre. A 65-metre infinity pool overlooks Wadi Safar.

The quotes

Jerry Inzerillo, Group Chief Executive Officer of Diriyah Company, said the opening will mark an important milestone for Wadi Safar as the first hotel to welcome guests to the destination. Vikram Oberoi, Chief Executive Officer of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, said Wadi Safar offers a rare opportunity to create a resort rooted in the history, culture and natural beauty of its surroundings. Jeremy Canivet, General Manager of the property, said the villas take their inspiration from Najdi heritage and sit among landscaped gardens.
