Visit Indy publishes a dated list of the hotel and meeting-space projects under way in downtown Indianapolis. Six properties carry an expected opening.
Signia Hilton Indianapolis holds 803 rooms with a December 2026 date, alongside a 143,500-square-foot convention center expansion and a 50,000-square-foot ballroom. Motto Hotel holds 116 rooms with a 2026 date in the King Cole Building. Kimpton Hotel holds 167 rooms with a 2027 date in the Odd Fellows building. Westin Hotel at Indianapolis International Airport holds 253 rooms with a 2027 date. Ritz-Carlton Hotel holds 176 rooms with a 2028 date. Renaissance Hotel holds 378 rooms with a 2028 date from a renovation of the Sheraton Indianapolis City Center Hotel, which keeps trading through the work.
Visit Indy sizes the wider programme at $3 billion in tourism-related projects and the connected hotel package at 13 properties and 5,500 rooms.
The entry with no date
The Downtown Indy Alliance tracker carries the Waterfront Canal Centre at 401 West Michigan Street as a Commercial - Hospitality entry. The scope line reads a 10-story hotel with a multi-level parking garage and outdoor activity area along the Central Canal. Development status reads Future and date started reads August 2021.
The entry publishes no room count, no completion date, no garage stall count and no project cost. The canal site has added no rooms since the August 2021 start month.
The day-use shelf in Indianapolis
hotelSlots publishes 273 hotels available in Indianapolis on its directory page, with body copy offering 123 hotels to choose from and a first page reading Showing 24 of 273. The platform lists four slots — morning, afternoon, evening and overnight — and states rates at 30 to 75 percent below nightly rates with no booking fee. Dayuse publishes an average price of $87.43 for a day room in Indianapolis and names the Quality Inn & Suites Southport as its recommended hourly hotel in the city, a property it places next to Interstate 65.
The nightly rate behind the discount
Engine publishes an average nightly rate of $128 in Indianapolis across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. Its month table reads $114 in January, $107 in February and $158 in May against a 32 percent swing across the year. Read 24 September 2026.
What the timing means for daytime inventory
Rooms that reach construction add daytime capacity to the city. The six dated deliveries cover the pipeline through 2028. The canal entry adds nothing until a room count and a completion date appear on the tracker.
Two calendars decide a day-use allocation in this market. The nightly curve sets the discount a daytime slot can carry. The delivery dates set when new inventory becomes available to sell by the hour.
