voco Opens Its First East Africa Hotel at Nairobi Airport

IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened voco Nairobi Airport Suites, the first voco hotel in Kenya and East Africa. The property holds 112 suites, four dining concepts and four meeting spaces off Mombasa Road.

A first voco for Kenya and East Africa

IHG Hotels & Resorts opened voco Nairobi Airport Suites, the first voco hotel in Kenya and the wider East African region. The release is dated 25 September 2026 and datelined Nairobi. The property sits just off Mombasa Road, close to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and within walking distance of the Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway terminus.

IHG calls voco its fastest-growing premium brand.

112 suites with kitchens and in-suite laundry

The hotel holds 112 suites across one-bedroom, two-bedroom and presidential suite options. Each suite carries a separate living area, dining spaces, a fully equipped kitchenette, a dedicated workspace, a private balcony and in-suite laundry facilities.

The release positions the inventory for two guest groups at once: the overnight transit guest and the executive on a long stay. The release publishes no suite sizes, no nightly rates and no count for each category.

Rooftop dining across four concepts

Four dining concepts serve the hotel. Kilimanjaro Restaurant sits at rooftop level next to the pool and runs global flavours, live cooking stations and a dedicated barbecue, with buffet and a la carte service. Savannah Lounge serves sunset cocktails and light bites. Cigar Haven offers a private setting for quiet conversation. Malt & Mocha on the ground floor serves coffee, pastries and light refreshments around the clock.

Four meeting spaces and Mara Hall

The hotel offers four meeting and event spaces totalling 623 square metres. Mara Hall is the largest venue at 235.33 square metres and seats 160 to 180 guests. The spaces suit executive meetings, training sessions, conferences, celebrations and social occasions.

The venues carry natural daylight, openable windows, high-speed internet, a built-in LED screen and integrated audiovisual technology. A dedicated events team supports bookings.

The round-the-clock shuttle and the airport distance

The hotel runs a complimentary airport shuttle around the clock. The release puts the property eight kilometres from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The site also reaches the Nairobi Expressway, the Mombasa Road business corridor and the Nairobi SGR Station.

A rooftop pool, a gym and the Nairobi attractions

The property carries a rooftop swimming pool, a dedicated fitness centre, complimentary on-site parking and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout. Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Centre and the Karen Blixen Museum sit within easy reach of the hotel.

Mattar on Nairobi as a gateway

Haitham Mattar, managing director for India, Middle East and Africa at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the opening marks a milestone as the company introduces voco to East Africa for the first time. He said Nairobi is one of the region's most dynamic and well-connected gateways, with growing demand from business and leisure travellers for high-quality, flexible accommodation. He said the opening reflects confidence in the long-term potential of Nairobi and East Africa.

Amit Sharma, general manager of voco Nairobi Airport Suites, said the hotel is designed for people who are always on the move and still want somewhere that feels like home.
