Ginger Reaches 100 Hotels, With the Next Rooms at Airports

IHCL's Ginger reached 100 operating hotels in India inside a 250-hotel portfolio, with four airport projects named and compact rooms and a workspace diner behind the brand.

The daytime product behind the milestone

IHCL announced on 29 September 2026 that Ginger reached 100 operating hotels in India. The brand pairs compact rooms with an all-day diner. The diner, Qmin, serves comfort food and doubles as a workspace.

Those two parts carry the daytime trade. A compact room at a mid-scale rate and a diner that carries work traffic are the elements a day-use booking draws on. IHCL publishes no hourly rate, no day rate and no minimum stay for any Ginger property.

The count IHCL reports

Ginger sits in the mid-scale segment, and IHCL markets the brand as a lean luxe offer. Business Standard reports that IHCL described Ginger as the first brand to have 100 hotels in operation across the country.

The operating count is one part of a larger committed portfolio. IHCL puts the Ginger portfolio at 250 hotels. Of those, 100 trade today, 95 sit under development and 55 are under brand migration. The migrating hotels carry a rebrand date of 31 March 2027.

The three figures sum to 250. The 95 hotels under development add rooms to the market. The 55 under migration convert acquired hotels into the Ginger brand by 31 March 2027, and IHCL publishes no property list for that group.

The next rooms land at transit hubs

Four announced projects sit at airports. Ginger will open a 325-key hotel at Bengaluru International Airport, a 300-key hotel at Manohar International Airport in Goa, a property of over 200 keys at Mumbai Terminal 2 and a 200-key hotel at Kolkata Airport.

The four named projects carry more than 1,000 keys between them, a total derived from the key counts IHCL publishes for each. Airport sites serve layover and transit stays, which are the trips a day room fits.

The demand statement behind the count

Deepika Rao is Executive Vice President for the Select Service Business at IHCL. She said the mid-scale hospitality segment is witnessing strong demand across established and emerging markets as India's economy grows and infrastructure expands. IHCL states that Ginger pioneered the category in India.

Suma Venkatesh is Executive Vice President for Real Estate and Development at IHCL. She described the Ginger model as scalable and high-margin and said it penetrates markets wide and deep. She named operating leases, selective investments and strategic partnerships as the routes IHCL uses across India.

The room proposition

IHCL states the brand promise as Simply Better and describes contemporary design, efficient spaces and an unconventional service ethos. IHCL describes the target guest as an aspirational, on-the-go traveler seeking comfort, convenience and social spaces.

The revenue read IHCL has given the market

Puneet Chhatwal, IHCL's managing director and chief executive, told Business Standard in February 2026 that Ginger could contribute up to 10 percent of the group's overall business at 250 hotels and would become the third largest brand by revenue contribution. He said Ginger's share of group revenue stood at 7 percent and should cross 10 percent of consolidated revenue in the 2027 financial year. He also said Ginger should deliver 40 percent EBITDA margins.

IHCL owns Taj, Vivanta, SeleQtions, Gateway, Tree of Life, Ginger and other brands. Business Standard describes it as India's largest hospitality company by market capitalisation, with a group portfolio of 660 hotels including 274 in the pipeline across four continents, 15 countries and more than 300 locations.

Where the day-use read stops

Dayuse runs country sites across Europe and the Americas and none for India, so the platform publishes no Indian city day-room average. hotelSlots covers 46 United States states. Neither platform prices a night at a Ginger property.
