IHG Signs Hotel Indigo Yogyakarta, Its First Property in the City

IHG signed Hotel Indigo Yogyakarta with PT Raka Eka Makmur. The 180-key hotel is scheduled to open in 2029 and will be IHG's first property in the city.

IHG Signs Hotel Indigo Yogyakarta With PT Raka Eka Makmur

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Yogyakarta on 7 October 2026, in partnership with the Indonesian developer PT Raka Eka Makmur. The company scheduled the hotel to open in 2029. The signing brings IHG its first property in the city.

The 180-key hotel adds to IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Indonesia. IHG described Yogyakarta as the gateway to Borobudur, one of Indonesia’s five Super Priority Destinations, and cited air connectivity through Yogyakarta International Airport in the site case.

What the 180-Key Hotel Will Hold

The release lists an all-day dining restaurant, a rooftop bar and terrace, a swimming pool, a fitness centre and a spa. Meeting and event space runs to approximately 740 square metres, and takes in a ballroom and multiple meeting rooms.

Hotel Indigo draws each property from the neighbourhood around it. IHG says the brand takes the food, drink and design trends of each city it enters and builds them into the hotel. The Yogyakarta property will reflect the city’s cultural identity and creative heritage in its design.

Hotel Indigo Reaches Three Open Hotels in Indonesia

IHG operates three Hotel Indigo properties in Indonesia today, and holds six more in the pipeline across Bali, Jakarta and Lombok. Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach opened first, followed by hotels in Bandung and Bintan. Yogyakarta becomes the fourth Indonesian city in that sequence.

IHG announced separately, on 5 October 2026, that Hotel Indigo had reached 200 open hotels worldwide.

The Indonesia Network Behind the Signing

The release states that IHG operates 35 hotels across nine brands in Indonesia, with 13 more properties in the pipeline. The company did not publish a cost, a contract value or a construction start for the Yogyakarta project. PT Raka Eka Makmur is an Indonesian real estate developer.

The city sits at the centre of the demand case IHG set out. Borobudur and Prambanan draw international arrivals, and the airport carries the inbound traffic the release cites.

Anklin and Pallar on the Record

Chris Anklin, Senior Director, Development, South East Asia & Korea at IHG Hotels & Resorts, linked the signing to the brand’s local-story approach and to demand at the destination. He named Borobudur and Yogyakarta International Airport in the same passage, and called the signing the start of the partnership with PT Raka Eka Makmur.

Ronny Pallar, President Director of PT Raka Eka Makmur, said the hotel would give guests a base for the city’s arts, culinary and cultural life, and for UNESCO World Heritage sites including Borobudur and Prambanan.

The 2029 Date Is an Announced Target

IHG gives 2029 as the opening year. No quarter, no month and no dated construction milestone appear in the release. The 180-key figure is the only room count in circulation, and independent trade coverage carried the same number.

Hotel Management Network, TTN Worldwide, Hotel News Resource, Europa Press and Koran Jakarta reported the signing on 7 October 2026 with the 180 keys, the 2029 date and the amenity list.

What the Signing Does Not Carry

The release names no street address, no room rate and no general manager. It carries no architect and no interior designer. The 740 square metres of meeting space is stated as approximate, and the release gives no breakdown by room.

Two other Hotel Indigo announcements cover separate properties. The Hotel Indigo Gosford and Crowne Plaza Newcastle signings in New South Wales and the Hotel Indigo Raleigh signing in North Carolina sit outside this deal.
