IHG Signs voco Vrindavan for a First-Quarter 2031 Opening
IHG Hotels & Resorts signed a management agreement with Vrindam Developers Private Limited for voco Vrindavan, the company announced on 6 October 2026. The 130-key hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2031. It will sit in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, and mark Vrindam Developers’ first move into the hotel sector.
The release describes the deal as a management agreement between the two companies. Independent coverage by PTI, Hotel Management Network, ET HospitalityWorld and The Economic Times carried the 130 keys and the first-quarter 2031 date.
Ninety Million Visitors Counted Across the Mathura District
IHG’s release states that Vrindavan and neighbouring Mathura drew more than 90 million visitors in 2024, up from 79 million in 2023. The figure beneath it is a district total. Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department data, reported by Travel Trends Today, puts the Mathura district at 9,00,81,788 visitors in 2024 and 7,79,27,299 in 2023. Vrindavan is a town inside that district.
IHG projects arrivals of 110 to 140 million a year over the next decade. That number is the company’s own forecast. No government source carries it.
130 Rooms, 13 Suites and Three Dining Venues
The hotel will hold 130 guestrooms, of which 13 are suites. Three dining venues are planned: an all-day dining restaurant, a second restaurant and a lobby lounge.
voco Vrindavan will form part of a larger mixed-use development that combines hotel guestrooms with serviced apartments and shared amenities.
Six Meeting Venues and a 1,400-Square-Metre Ballroom
Meeting and event space runs to more than 2,340 square metres across six venues. A 1,400-square-metre ballroom anchors the set. The hotel will also hold a swimming pool and a fitness centre, aimed at pilgrimage and leisure stays alongside meetings and social celebrations.
The Brand and the Executives on the Record
voco’s stated hallmarks are ‘Come on in’, ‘Me time’ and ‘voco life’. The release describes the brand as combining an individual hotel’s informality with a global brand’s standards.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said Vrindavan carries cultural and spiritual weight that draws visitors from across India and abroad, and that voco’s character suits the destination’s shifting guest expectations. Ankush Kadyan, Director at Vrindam Developers Private Limited, said the developer will work with IHG on its first hospitality project, and named the destination’s pilgrimage appeal and improving connectivity.
The Braj Circuit and the Mathura Holiday Inn Express
IHG names connectivity to Delhi NCR, Agra and Mathura in the site case. The release points to the Banke Bihari Corridor and to expressway improvements as infrastructure under way. The corridor is a Rs 500 crore project on 5 to 5.5 acres around the 1862-built Banke Bihari Temple, cleared by India’s Supreme Court in May 2025 to ease congestion there.
An upcoming Holiday Inn Express in nearby Mathura carries a different brand in a different town on the same Braj tourism circuit. It is a separate project.
India: 53 Open Hotels and a 110-Hotel Pipeline
IHG operates 53 open hotels across seven brands in India, and holds a pipeline of 110 hotels due to open over the next three to five years. The company supplied both figures, and no independent register backs them.
voco’s Indian presence began with voco Jim Corbett, signed in January 2023 with Satyadeo Hospitality and opened on 7 May 2024. voco Udaipur was signed on 16 June 2026 with 140 keys and a first-quarter 2029 opening. Vrindavan is a later signing on the same brand.
What the Signing Does Not Carry
The release names no development cost, no operator term, no architect and no general manager. It gives no construction start, and it does not fix the opening inside the first quarter of 2031.
