Ruby Lilou Opens in Marseille as the Ruby Brand Reaches France

Ruby opened the 237-room Ruby Lilou in Marseille on 5 October 2026, the brand's first hotel in France, with a 300 sqm rooftop terrace and the Ruby Yani workspace.

237 Rooms in Four Categories

Ruby opened Ruby Lilou in Marseille on 5 October 2026. The release carries a Marseilles dateline and states that the hotel is the Ruby brand's first in France. Ruby is an IHG Hotels & Resorts brand, and Ruby Group runs development, design and operations at the property.

The hotel holds 237 rooms across four categories: Nest, Cosy, Lovely and Wow. Room interiors follow a luxury yacht design. Every room carries an oversized bed, a walk-in rainfall shower and blackout curtains, and the rooms carry Marshall amplifiers and Bluetooth speakers.

Rooftop Terrace, Bar and Workspace

The rooftop terrace measures 300 sqm and looks across Marseille towards the Mediterranean. The bar and cafe operates around the clock and serves barista coffee, local wines, cocktails and light bites.

Ruby Yani opens in the same building and brings Ruby Workspaces to France for the first time. Ruby Group operates it. The workspace offers more than 126 flexible workstations, private offices, meeting rooms, phone booths and communal areas, and members reach the hotel's rooftop terrace. Membership runs from EUR 60 a month and day passes start at EUR 30. Ruby Workspaces lists sites in Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Florence, Hamburg, Malta, Munich, Stuttgart and Vienna.

Location

The hotel sits between the Vieux Port and La Joliette, near Le Panier. Joliette metro station is a three-minute walk, Marseille Saint-Charles railway station is five minutes by metro, and Marseille Provence Airport is approximately 45 minutes away by public transport.

Rates and Booking

Room rates start at EUR 130 a night for single occupancy and include breakfast. Bookings run through the hotel's own website, and IHG One Rewards members can book through the IHG One Rewards app.

The Two Named Executives

Michael Struck, founder and chief executive officer of Ruby Group, said: "Opening Ruby Lilou marks an important milestone for us as we debut the Ruby brand in France. Marseille is a city with a strong sense of identity, creativity, and authenticity, making it a natural fit for Ruby. Together with Ruby Yani Workspaces, we have created a destination that reflects the character of the city while offering guests, workspace members and locals a place to stay, work and connect. We are excited to become part of Marseille's vibrant community and look forward to welcoming many guests."

Lauren Krostue, vice president of global brand management at Ruby, said: "Marseille is a city that thrives on contrast, where heritage meets creativity, and laid-back Mediterranean living sits alongside a bold independent spirit. With Ruby Lilou, we wanted to capture that unique energy, creating a place that feels deeply rooted in its surroundings while offering the thoughtful design, comfort and character guests expect from Ruby."

The Brand Counters

The release states 42 open and pipeline Ruby hotels worldwide as at Q2 2026, and names the June 2026 opening of Ruby Frida in Stockholm. Its about block states that Ruby Group operates 23 Ruby hotels across Europe with 18 more under construction or in planning. IHG's Ruby brand page reads 20 open hotels, 3,582 open rooms and 22 pipeline hotels as at 30 June 2026.

The release sets out no construction start date for the conversion and no figure for the project cost.
