The Weekend and the Two Prices
Penn State's White Out against USC was scheduled for Saturday, 10 October at West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium, with a 7:30 p.m. Eastern kickoff, public gates at 5:30 p.m. and the game carried by NBC and Peacock.
The weekend carried two priced markets. A resale ticket trades until kickoff. A booked hotel room is a committed cost with no resale route.
The Ticket Series
TicketData.com tracks the historical get-in price for the game, the cheapest ticket on the secondary market. The column reported that the cheapest White Out tickets held at $299 or above from May until Penn State's 26 September loss to Wisconsin.
The get-in price stood at $317 on the morning of the Wisconsin game. It was $280 two days later, $184 by the morning of the Northwestern game, and $103 by Sunday, 4 October, after the 34-13 loss to Northwestern. It fell below $100 the following Monday. The column attributes the fall to the team's record, with Penn State unranked after two Big Ten losses.
The exact points of that series rest on TicketData alone. Two secondary-market hosts carried the level: a 5 October price survey put the get-in price at $93 to $99, and StubHub's indexed listing for the game showed a best price of $72 including fees.
The Rooms That Held
Area hotel rates held through the same week. The column lists three properties with vacancy for a two-person stay from Friday to Sunday, as of late Wednesday morning, 7 October.
The avid hotel Bellefonte by IHG listed at $873 a night, the Baymont by Wyndham in Milesburg at $525 and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Reedsville at $480. The column states that these were the State College area hotels with vacancy for that stay. All three sit outside the State College borough, and IHG lists the avid hotel Bellefonte at 132 Amberleigh Lane with 42 rooms.
Why the Room Rate Holds
The column gives the market structure behind the two prices. A ticket can be listed on a secondary market and sold up to kickoff. A hotel reservation carries no resale route once it is booked.
The column states that most fans had to book months in advance to find a vacancy, and that demand outpaces supply in the area. The supply base around State College is small and spread across nearby towns.
The Day-Use Shelf Today
Day-use inventory is thin across the same market. On 14 October 2026, dayuse.com listed no day-use hotel in State College. The site's Pennsylvania page carried two: the Travelodge by Wyndham Shamokin Dam/Selinsgrove, with a minimum day offer of $60 before booking fees and a 40 percent discount against its comparative rate, and the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sayre, with a minimum day offer of $58 before booking fees and a 50 percent discount. The Travelodge offers day slots from 8:00 to 19:00 and the Microtel from 8:00 to 21:00. The site's United States page carried 2,559 day hotels.
Neither Pennsylvania property sits in State College.
