Under Canvas will open Under Canvas Santa Fe in April 2027. The camp is the brand's first location in New Mexico. The company announced the opening on 15 September 2026, and Hotel Business carried the item on 18 September 2026.
The trading window
The camp's published 2027 dates run 15 April to 25 October. The season covers seven months of the year.
Rates start at $279 a night. A breakfast rate plan adds a $50 credit for each morning of a stay. Dogs carry a nightly fee.
Under Canvas Santa Fe will open with 45 safari-inspired canvas tents and hard-sided cabins. Reservations are open for the inaugural season.
The daytime space
A dedicated event tent measures 1,885 square feet and seats 80 guests. An adjoining open-air deck measures 1,605 square feet. Catering runs on site, and the Galisteo Basin sits behind the tent.
The release lists the tent and the deck as the anchor for group gatherings. The camp publishes no hourly product, so a daytime buyer takes the event tent and the deck for the period it contracts.
A day-use operator reading those numbers gets three data points: a seven-month trading window, a night-based rate from $279, and a group space sold beside the rooms.
The portfolio and the channel
The brand's locations page lists Santa Fe among 15 Under Canvas camps, alongside ULUM Moab, Bar N Ranch and The Fields of Michigan. The release counts Santa Fe as the portfolio's 18th property.
Under Canvas properties take part in World of Hyatt through the Mr & Mrs Smith relationship, where members earn and redeem points. Hyatt's own landing page lists 14 Under Canvas locations plus ULUM Moab, The Fields of Michigan and Bar N Ranch. Santa Fe is not on that list.
The property
The camp covers 640 acres of high desert at 6,321 feet in elevation, borders the nearly 10,000-acre Galisteo Basin Preserve, and sits 30 minutes from Santa Fe. The site carries more than 44 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
Forty-five tents span an upper terrace, a juniper-covered middle slope and a lower meadow. Each tent carries a private deck, an en suite bathroom, a king-size bed, a wood-burning stove and in-tent cooling. Three tent types are offered: Deluxe, the Stargazer with sky-viewing windows above the bed, and Suites. Select tents take an adjacent Kids Tent with two twin beds, and two-tent suites carry adjoining decks.
The camp marks three firsts for the brand: saunas, a dedicated event tent, and hard-sided cabins alongside the canvas tents. The cabins have no announced opening date.
Amenities listed on the camp page include a sauna, lobby Wi-Fi, an on-site restaurant, an experience coordinator, on-site hiking trails, a nightly fire with s'mores, and programming that includes live music, morning yoga and children's activities.
Design and outdoor lighting follow DarkSky International's principles and standards. The release states the intent to limit impact on the surrounding high-desert environment.
