One block, seven hours
The 52nd Castro Street Fair filled Castro and Market on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For inventory sold by the day, that was the whole window. The gates opened and closed inside one afternoon.
The footprint
Four segments closed to traffic: Market Street from Noe to Castro, Castro Street from Market to 19th Street, 18th Street from Diamond to Noe and 17th Street from Castro to Noe. The Fair is a smoke-free event.
The station sits inside the fairgrounds
Muni Metro's K Ingleside, L Taraval, M Ocean View and S Shuttle all stop at Castro Station. The Fair places that station within the fairgrounds and recommends Muni Metro as the way in. The crowd entered at the middle of the footprint and left the same way.
The gate
Entry asked a suggested donation of $10 to $20 at the gates. The FAQ adds that nobody is turned away for lack of funds. The Fair publishes no attendance, capacity or gate-count figure.
Three stages, six hours on the main one
The exhibitor page promises three big stages, with light entertainment mixed in along the way. The entertainment page runs under the heading Five Ways to Find Your Groove in 2026 and names five blocks: the Castro Stage, the Collingwood Stage, the Queer AF Stage, the Family Zone and Sundance Saloon. The two counts are the organiser's own, and they sit on different pages. The Castro Stage at Castro and Market carried the full six hours of performances, music and DJs, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The trading day inside the footprint
The Castro is an official Entertainment Zone for the day, so guests 21 and over could carry eligible to-go drinks through the activated footprint, with glass and metal containers barred. Four bars held the Fair's official partner slot: Beaux, Copper Kitchen & Microbrewery, Midnight Sun and QBar. A donation sticker took $1 off drinks at all four.
The scale lines the Fair publishes
Two lines stand in for a headcount. The exhibitor page welcomes thousands of attendees from all over the Bay Area. The same page counts hundreds of local artists, vendors, craftspeople and organizations lining the streets.
The day-use market beside it
Dayuse.com's San Francisco page gave an average day-room price of $119.61 on 7 October 2026 and recommended The Mosser Hotel. Its card window carried 20 properties with day rates from $85 to $159. A day-use operator pricing the 4 October window was pricing a seven-hour block that ended at 6 p.m.
The evening hand-off
The Fair wrapped at 6 p.m. The Official Castro Street Fair After Party at the Castro Theatre took over: doors at 5:30 p.m., show at 6:00 p.m., all ages, tickets $35.25 to $65.25 through Ticketmaster. The Fair describes it as the way to keep celebrating the day's theme, Where We Belong.
What the pulse reads
One afternoon, four closed segments, a donation gate and a rail station inside the grounds. The demand arrived and departed by train inside a seven-hour window. The Fair publishes no count against it. The event's economic figure is its own: an estimated $8 million in total visitor impact for the prior year, quoted by then Board President Jenn Meyer in the 50th-anniversary release, dated 2024.
