The campus is occupied
Elanco Animal Health moved into its global headquarters on 1 October 2025. The company reports about 9,450 employees worldwide, with more than 700 working out of the west bank campus on a weekday.
The three buildings carry offices, laboratories and a collaboration space. The company said in 2022 that the collaboration building would host scientific forums.
Measured on OpenStreetMap coordinates, the Indiana Convention Center sits about 1.0 km from the campus in a straight line, and the JW Marriott at 10 South West Street about 0.7 km.
Where the visiting traffic sits
Ask Elanco for the campus visitor count, the vendor and contractor travel figure and the training calendar. None of the three is published.
The district adds research traffic. Elanco, Purdue University and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation are expanding the OneHealth Innovation District around the campus.
The supply it arrives beside
Downtown Indianapolis carries 7,100 hotel rooms, with 4,700 connected to the Convention Center by skywalk, per the venue. The ICCLOS Facility Guide puts 4,570 committable group rooms in the downtown area.
Five projects sit in the pipeline on Visit Indy's new-developments page. Motto takes 116 rooms in 2026. Kimpton takes 167 rooms in the historic Odd Fellows building in 2027. The Westin at Indianapolis International Airport takes 253 rooms in 2027. The Ritz-Carlton takes 176 rooms across from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in 2028. A Renaissance conversion of the Sheraton Indianapolis City Center takes 378 rooms in 2028.
The largest arrival sits east of the river. The Signia by Hilton Indianapolis carries 803 rooms and opens with the Convention Center expansion in December 2026. The venue prices that package at $710 million. The expansion adds 143,500 square feet, including a 50,455-square-foot Grand Ballroom.
The venue puts the expansion's impact at up to $232 million in new conventions, with 2,500 construction jobs and 400 hotel jobs.
What the west bank adds
A fully occupied headquarters puts about 700 weekday commuters on the west bank. Commuters take no room nights. The visiting cohort takes them, and its size stays unpublished.
