The signing and the keys it adds
IHG Hotels & Resorts introduced its Noted Collection brand in Japan on 28 September 2026 through agreements covering two Tokyo hotels with separate owners. The first covers a 207-key conversion in Shinjuku's Kabukicho district. The second covers an 81-key new build in Ginza 8-chome. The two projects total 288 keys.
SC Capital Partners signed the Shinjuku agreement and acquired the property through its Japan Hospitality Fund. The hotel sits steps from Golden Gai. The property will be renovated and rebranded before it opens in 2027, and it will trade under its own identity inside the collection.
An Consulting signed the Ginza agreement. The 81-key hotel is scheduled to open in 2029, within walking distance of Shimbashi Station and Ginza Station. The plans list family-friendly suites, a restaurant and bar, and a fitness centre.
The daytime space each hotel adds
The Shinjuku property carries a lobby connected to a restaurant and cafe area. The Ginza property carries a restaurant and bar alongside a fitness centre. A restaurant, a bar and a fitness centre are the parts a daytime booking draws on.
Both hotels are the first Noted Collection signings in Japan. The Shinjuku property is the brand's first conversion signing in the country, and the Ginza property is its first new-build signing.
Two districts, two development routes
The Shinjuku site carries the conversion. The building already exists, and the brand enters it through a renovation and rebrand ahead of the 2027 opening. The Ginza site carries the new build, on land developed for the hotel ahead of 2029.
The districts differ in their demand base. Kabukicho draws on commercial, retail and entertainment traffic, with Golden Gai adjacent. Ginza 8-chome draws on dining, luxury retail and cultural heritage. The Ginza hotel adds a district to IHG's Tokyo coverage, and the release states the company holds no existing hotel there.
The owner pitch
Abhijay Sandilya, Managing Director for Japan and Micronesia at IHG and CEO of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan, tied the signings to owner demand. "Owners are increasingly looking for flexible brand solutions that allow hotels to maintain their individuality while benefiting from IHG's global scale, enterprise platform and loyalty programme," he said.
Noted Collection hotels keep their own identity and gain access to IHG's enterprise and commercial platforms and to the IHG One Rewards loyalty programme. Daisuke Hiramoto, Managing Director and Head of Japan at SC Capital Partners, said the fund saw an opportunity to enhance the guest experience at the property it had acquired. Amane Kotani, Representative Director at An Consulting, said the Ginza hotel will serve domestic and international travellers.
Noted Collection in the wider pipeline
Noted Collection launched earlier this year as IHG's 21st brand. The release describes it as a premium collection built for independent properties. The pipeline it names runs to the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. Theobalds Estate, Noted Collection by IHG, is in the UK. Cantonal Hotel Riyadh Noted Collection by IHG is in Saudi Arabia.
Hotel News Resource's Noted Collection index, carried on the same page as the Tokyo article, dates the UK signing to 15 May 2026, the Riyadh signing to 12 August 2026 and an Amman, Jordan, signing to 21 September 2026.
Where the day-use read stops
Dayuse publishes a day-room average and one recommended property on each of its city pages. It carries no Tokyo city page, so the platform publishes no local day-room average.
hotelSlots lists 103,857 hotels across 46 United States states on its 8 October 2026 read, and it sells four windows of morning, afternoon, evening and overnight. The platform covers the United States.
The release publishes no day rate, no hourly rate and no minimum stay for either property. A day-use programme on the two hotels starts from their restaurant, bar and fitness space, and the rate card stays with each operator.
What the signings leave unstated
The release carries no construction cost for either property. It names no architect and no contractor. It gives opening years without months, and it states no room rates, no renovation schedule and no key mix for either hotel.
