Two Indianapolis projects carry the same opening month. Signia by Hilton Indianapolis brings 800 rooms to 101 W. Georgia Street. The sixth expansion of the Indiana Convention Center adds 143,500 square feet of event space next door. Both target December 2026.
The pair changes what a downtown operator can sell by the hour. The expansion lets two citywide conventions run at once, and the changeover day between them is the window daytime inventory fills.
What Opens
Hilton's releases and the Capital Improvement Board report 800 rooms. The venue's own project page and Visit Indy report 803. Seventy of the rooms are suites from 450 to 1,900 square feet.
The tower stands 38 stories and 441 feet. A climate-controlled skywalk over Capitol Avenue links it to the convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
Hilton's reservations release gives the hotel 100,000 square feet of meeting space across 42 rooms. A 50,000-square-foot ballroom divisible into 12 sections anchors that inventory. Two further ballrooms measure 16,000 and 9,000 square feet. A 7,500-square-foot outdoor event deck completes the set.
The expansion adds 143,500 square feet of its own, including a second 50,000-square-foot ballroom.
The Daytime Window The Delivery Creates
The ICC states that its facility and skywalk hours depend on the event, and gives approximately 11:00 p.m. for the evening lock-down and approximately 6:00 a.m. for the morning re-open. Delegate days sit inside that frame.
Two conventions on one calendar overlap at the changeover. The venue's own upcoming-events list runs MAPP Benchmarking and Best Practices, ATD Core4 and ATD OrgDev across September 29 to October 1, 2026, with the Do it Best Corp. Fall Market closing September 28.
Access supports short windows. Indianapolis International Airport sits 15 minutes from downtown, per the venue's attendee pages. Those pages count 200 restaurants within walking distance and 4,700 rooms connected to the building by skywalk.
The Inventory It Joins
Visit Indy's new-developments page puts the connected block at 13 properties and 5,500 hotel rooms once the expansion opens. Hilton's October 2025 topping-off release recorded 12 connected hotels with more than 5,200 rooms at that stage, and called that the most of any city nationwide.
The venue counts 7,100 hotel rooms downtown, with more than half within blocks of the convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
HVS counted the same set in its September 8, 2025 downtown market note: 143,500 square feet of added event space, a 50,000-square-foot ballroom, an 800-room Signia and more than 5,500 rooms to be linked by skywalk. The note states that the added capacity lets Indianapolis host multiple citywide events at once and significantly boosts compression across the downtown hotel market.
The Occupancy Frame
Marcus & Millichap's 1Q 2026 report forecasts the CBD holding occupancy near 65 percent in 2026, the highest figure in the metro, against a modest year-over-year dip. The report attributes the downtown baseline to tourism, including the Indianapolis 500, and records ticket sales about 10 percent ahead of the prior year as of February 2026 after a 2025 figure of about 350,000 attendees.
The same report states that the expansion and the connected hotel should improve the city's competitiveness for large conventions, with potential support for weekday occupancy and rate growth over time.
HVS names a second weekday source. IU Health's $4.3 billion downtown medical campus, an 864-bed, three-tower facility expected to open in 2027, is set to generate steady weekday demand for extended-stay and midscale hotels.
Engine's city page puts the average Indianapolis nightly rate at $128 across 1.2 million observations from May 2024 to April 2026. September runs $117, nine percent below that average.
Bookings Already On The Books
Visit Indy has secured $1.3 billion in retained convention business and interest in $1 billion of new bookings, with groups reserving space as far out as 2036. The American Society of Safety Professionals brings its annual meeting in June 2030, with a 10,000-attendee general session in the Signia Grand Ballroom and a projected $11.5 million impact.
What The Record Leaves Open
No publisher carries a day-use rate, a minimum window, a group rate floor or a shoulder-night rule for the Signia. The hotel's sales office holds those terms at inddi-salesadm@hilton.com.
The opening date itself is published two ways. Hilton's reservations release reads stays beginning December 9, 2026, and the Capital Improvement Board's repost of April 21, 2026 reads February 1, 2027. Confirm which one holds before counting on those rooms.
