The crossing sets a date against the supply calendar
Indianapolis names the White River crossing the Greenlawn Memorial Bridge. The Board of Public Works approved the name on 22 July 2026, and the deck opens in early 2027 with two travel lanes and a multi-use path for the Indianapolis Cultural Trail between Washington Street and Oliver Street.
The crossing adds access and weekday demand. It adds no rooms. That gap is the day-use read for the corridor.
What the west bank will ask for
Elanco opened a headquarters of more than $200 million on the former GM Stamping Plant site in October 2025, and the company bases more than 725 employees in the greater Indianapolis area. The OneHealth Innovation District adds a research campus developed with Purdue University.
The west-side street grid is substantially complete, per the district's own site: the reconstructed D Loop, the relocation of South White River Parkway, Innovator Way from Harding Street and Holly Avenue. The Cultural Trail extension carries bicycle and pedestrian traffic across the river.
Visit Indy's connected package and its development list carry no west-bank property. Daytime rooms for that demand come from downtown.
The inventory that answers it
Visit Indy counts 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms in the connected package, and more than 10,000 rooms within walking distance of the convention center. The venue reports 7,100 hotel rooms downtown, 4,700 rooms connected by skywalk and 200 restaurants within walking distance.
The convention center's facility guide reports 4,721 skywalk-connected rooms, 71 meeting rooms at 113,302 square feet and a 30,000-square-foot dock with eleven bays.
Where the city is adding rooms
Visit Indy lists the downtown pipeline under a $3 billion banner of tourism-related projects. The Signia by Hilton Indianapolis carries 803 rooms and pairs with a 143,500-square-foot convention center expansion and a 50,000-square-foot ballroom, with an anticipated opening in December 2026. The expansion takes the connected count to 13 properties and 5,500 rooms.
The Motto Hotel adds 116 rooms in 2026. The Kimpton enters the market with 167 rooms in 2027. The Westin at Indianapolis International Airport adds 253 rooms in 2027. The Ritz-Carlton brings 176 rooms in 2028. The Renaissance brings 378 rooms in 2028 through a rebrand of the Sheraton Indianapolis City Center.
None of those rooms sits on the west bank.
The day-use numbers a desk can price against
Engine publishes an average nightly rate of $128 for Indianapolis across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. November reads $122 and February reads $107, the cheapest month in that table.
Dayuse publishes an average of $87.43 for a day room in Indianapolis on its city page. hotelSlots publishes two bands: "Up to 75% Off Nightly Rates" and "30-75% less than nightly rates" on its home page, and "40-60% less than overnight" on its day-use page. Its day-rate guide describes a day slot at "roughly 40% to 60% of" the nightly figure.
The platform sells four windows: Morning 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Afternoon 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Evening 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM and Overnight 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Its Indianapolis directory lists 273 hotels, and Aloft at 136 East Market Street appears there as a three-star property.
The demand the rooms land into
A downtown snapshot prepared by Downtown Indy Alliance, citing CoStar and STR, shows average occupancy of 64.7 percent, revenue per available room of $135.20 and an average daily rate of $209.11, up 12 percent year over year.
No published study assigns a room-night or rate effect to the bridge or to the district. No opening day sits inside early 2027, and no west-bank property is open to publish a rate.
Read the opening against the pipeline calendar: a crossing in early 2027, a Signia and a convention expansion in December 2026, and room additions through 2028.
Ask Indy DPW for the completion date. Ask the district's employers for their booked meeting volume. Ask Indianapolis day-use operators how they price the morning window once the crossing opens.
