The daytime block the symposium writes
The Indiana IT Symposium holds Sagamore Ballroom 4-5 at the Indiana Convention Center on Wednesday 14 October 2026. The venue publishes a forecast of 300 attendees. SIM Indianapolis hosts the day, and the venue describes it as a single-day event for the IT executive community. The organiser’s agenda carries 33 sessions.
The agenda sets the clocks. Check-in and breakfast run 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The welcome starts at 8:30, the opening keynote runs 8:50 to 9:35, and four-way breakout blocks fill the middle of the day. Lunch runs 12:15 to 1 p.m., the closing keynote runs 3:45 to 4:30 p.m., and closing comments, raffles and a reception run 4:30 to 6 p.m. The published event window is 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The windows a day-use operator sells
hotelSlots sells a room by the hour or by the block, with morning, afternoon and full-day slots. The platform defines a day-use booking at 6 to 8 hours and prices it 40 to 60 percent below the overnight rate. Its rate article puts a day slot at roughly 40 to 60 percent of the nightly figure and notes that weekday demand prices lower than weekend demand.
The symposium fits that model at both ends of the day. A delegate on site from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. holds the Tuesday and Wednesday nights and buys nothing for the daylight between them. A local delegate with a late flight or an evening meeting buys the part of the room-day the hotel cannot sell at the full nightly rate.
Where three hundred delegates land
The venue connects 4,700 rooms to the Center through its skywalk system. It counts 7,100 hotel rooms downtown, 200 restaurants within walking distance and 15 minutes to the airport. A 300-person single-day booking touches 4.2 percent of the downtown count and 6.4 percent of the skywalk-connected set. The pickup runs one night.
Engine measures the Indianapolis nightly average at $128 across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, on par rates described as the cheapest publicly available price at the time of each search. October averages $134 and January $114. At the October figure, the platform’s own band puts a daytime slot between $54 and $80.
Two multi-day shows hold the building on the same day. Furnaces North America runs 12 to 15 October with a 1,500 forecast in Exhibit Hall B. The Best Practices Expo & Conference runs 13 to 15 October with a 1,200 forecast. The three programmes total 3,000 forecast attendees on 14 October.
The audience the day draws
The agenda names speakers and panellists from Lilly, CNO Financial, Elanco Animal Health, Labcorp, Red Gold, the NCAA, the Indiana Public Retirement System, the Indiana Management Performance Hub, Ivy Tech Community College, DePauw University and TechIndiana. The line-up reads as a regional executive audience that drives in for the day.
The venue’s own listing carries 14 events between 1 October and 1 November 2026. Three hundred is the second-smallest forecast on that list, above the Emerging Leaders’ Summit’s 220 on 7 October and level with the Economic Club of Indiana luncheon on 13 October.
What the record does not carry
No publisher states how many of the 300 travel from outside the metro area. No publisher states how many book a room. The symposium publishes no room block, no rate and no cut-off date on its own site, and names no hotel.
The block terms for the same week come from the two shows beside it. Furnaces North America holds rooms at the Marriott Downtown Indianapolis at $229 with a booking deadline of 25 September. The Best Practices Expo holds $214 rooms at the Crowne Plaza Downtown Union Station with a cut-off extended to 25 September and $229 rooms at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis for reservations by 18 September.
