70,000 attendees against 7,100 rooms
The Indiana Convention Center forecasts 70,000 attendees for the Big Ten Football Championship Fan Fest on December 5-6, 2026. The Big Ten Conference sets the championship game for Saturday, December 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium, with an 8 p.m. ET kickoff on FOX.
The venue reports 7,100 hotel rooms downtown and 4,700 rooms connected to the Center by skywalk. The 70,000 forecast equals 9.86 attendees per downtown room. The connected inventory is 66.2 percent of the downtown total.
Gates open at 6 p.m. Kickoff follows at 8 p.m.
The peak sits on Saturday night
The conference dates the Fan Fest Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5, with more than 200,000 square feet for interactive games, entertainment, Big Ten merchandise, giveaways, food and beverages.
A second booking sits on the same Saturday. The Center's published calendar lists the 38th Combat Aviation Brigade Ball on December 5.
The Sunday shoulder
The venue event page dates the festival December 5-6. The conference release and the venue's live calendar both read Friday to Saturday.
The Center's calendar carries no booking between the festival and the Performance Racing Industry Show on December 10-12. The IU School of Nursing Graduation follows on December 16.
What the shoulder sells
Day-use inventory covers the hours inside a visit. hotelSlots publishes four slots: Morning 6AM-12PM, Afternoon 12PM-6PM, Evening 6PM-12AM and Overnight 12AM-6AM. The platform states that a day-use room typically runs 6 to 8 hours and that day-use rates on its home page are typically 30-75 percent less than the nightly rate. Its day-use page publishes 40-60 percent less than an overnight stay.
Dayuse publishes an average day-room price of $87.43 in Indianapolis, with up to 75 percent off an overnight stay, free cancellation until the slot starts and payment at the hotel.
Engine publishes an average nightly rate of $128 in Indianapolis across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. March reads $122, five percent below the city average. Indianapolis ranks 39 of 50 markets at 14 percent below the $148 median. Engine's figures are par rates, the cheapest public price at the time of each search.
The market print behind the peak
Bradford Allen published a Downtown Indy Alliance snapshot on March 19, 2026, citing CoStar and STR. Downtown occupancy reads 64.7 percent against a U.S. average of 62.4 percent. Average daily rate reads $209.11, up 12 percent year over year. RevPAR reads $135.20, up 13 percent and 35 percent ahead of the U.S. figure of $99.96.
The same report cites CoStar for 8.1 million room nights of demand in the 12 months to mid-year 2025, more than 580,000 above the market's pre-COVID peak. The construction pipeline holds more than 1,500 rooms, with 3,402 in final planning and 3,220 proposed. It describes the Signia by Hilton as a 38-story, 800-room hotel beside a 143,500-square-foot Center expansion.
The overflow route
The 4,700 skywalk-connected rooms take part of the weekend overflow. The Center's skywalks page gives lockdown at approximately 11 p.m. and reopening at approximately 6 a.m., with the timing labelled event-dependent.
Visit Indy gives 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms connected once the Signia opens, and more than 10,000 rooms within walking distance of the Center. The conference publishes more than 73,000 downtown parking spaces, which is 1.04 spaces per forecast attendee.
