MAPP runs its 2026 Benchmarking and Best Practices Conference from Tuesday 29 September to Thursday 1 October. The venue publisher forecasts 650 attendees at the Indiana Convention Center, Wabash Ballroom 1-3. Plastics Business, the association's trade publication, places the event and its secured room block at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott, 350 W. Maryland.
Downtown Indianapolis holds 7,100 hotel rooms, and 4,700 of them connect to the Convention Center by skywalk. A 650-person contract barely moves a city occupancy number, and it decides which rooms the host property can sell twice.
Compression sets the daytime inventory
A day-use booking needs a room between two check-ins. On a compressed week the front desk holds those rooms for the overnight line, and the midday window narrows with it. The Marriott carries 650 rooms and 42,000 square feet of meeting space on Visit Indy's connected-hotel list, and the 650-person forecast fills that house for three nights.
Downtown has a daytime price to work from. Dayuse states the average day room in Indianapolis runs $87.43 on its platform. Engine puts the city's average nightly par rate at $128 across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. Day-use platforms sell the same rooms in morning, afternoon, evening and overnight slots, priced 30 to 75 percent below nightly rates on hotelSlots' own page, and define a day-use room as six to eight hours.
The skywalk sets the turnover window. The venue's attendee guide states the closing and opening times of the facility and the skywalks are event-dependent, with a rule of thumb of about 11:00 p.m. for lock-down and about 6:00 a.m. for reopening. A room sold for the morning after a late-finishing show night comes back into service on the venue's schedule.
The conference week inside the venue calendar
The venue calendar lists 12 events between 22 September and 15 October. The Association for Talent Development runs two programmes, Core4 and OrgDev, on the same three dates as MAPP, so three meetings share the building and the downtown room stock.
The show week that closes the day before
The Do it Best Corp. Fall Market runs from Friday 25 September to Monday 28 September. The venue forecasts 12,000 attendees. The organiser counts 1,200-plus vendors, 9,300-plus attendees and 566,000-plus square feet of market floor, and its housing system lists 22 hotels.
Do it Best's 9,300 attendees against 7,100 downtown rooms is 1.31 attendees for every room. That week presses 22 properties across four days. The conference presses one address across three.
What the week prices into
Newmark's 4Q 2025 Indianapolis report puts the metro's year-to-date RevPAR change at minus 4.8 percent, against minus 0.7 percent for the Midwest and minus 1.2 percent for the top 104 U.S. markets, on Kalibri Labs data. Its RevPAR performance index reads 0.914, second of 16 Midwest markets. Newmark lists Signia by Hilton Indianapolis at 814 rooms for Q4 2026 under Kite Realty Group Trust, against the 803 rooms the venue publisher states.
The corporate group segment draws its leverage from concentration. A 650-person contract that fills one house carries weight while few houses publish the space to hold it. The count of houses that publish that space rises next year.
