What the Organiser Says It Sells
SPIE's Photonics West page asks the community to join more than 1,200 companies. The programme runs 100 or more conferences across six application areas, with 60 courses.
The organiser counts 24,000 people from the optics and photonics community at the week.

January Against the Rest of the Year
Engine's San Francisco dataset runs to 3.1 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. The city average is $165 a night on par rates, the cheapest public price at the time of each search.
January sits at $166, one percent above the city average. March is the high month at $197, 19 percent above. December is the low month at $129, 22 percent below. The cheapest month and the priciest sit 35 percent apart.
Six nights at the January par rate bill $996. Six nights at the $900 in citywide spending per room night that AHLA and CHLA measure put $5,400 into the city.
The Supply the Block Draws On
The Moscone Center's FAQ counts over 20,000 hotel rooms within walking distance. The venue's book-an-event page counts more than two-thirds of the city's 34,000 rooms inside that distance.
The venue's event feed listed no booking at the Moscone Center between 4 and 11 February 2027 on 17 October 2026.
The Day-Use Read
The organisers publish no day-use line: no hourly rate and no property selling a daytime room.
Dayuse listed nine San Francisco district properties on its city shelf on 17 October 2026. The Mosser Hotel carries $91 and Taj Campton Place $159. The nine average $128.00. The page's own line puts the city day-room average at $119.61.
The remaining cards sit outside the city: the airport corridor, Millbrae, San Bruno, Emeryville, Oakland, Berkeley and Alameda. hotelSlots lists 562 hotels in San Francisco ready to answer a day-use request.
