The Schedule as Published
Completion of the UCSF Health Helen Diller Hospital is expected by 2029. The October 2026 project update from UCSF Real Estate then puts activation and the first patient in 2030.
Structural steel reached level 6 in October 2026. Steel erection runs through mid-2027.
UCSF announced the launch on 27 April 2024. The release puts the cost at $4.3 billion, the height at 15 storeys and the floor area at 880,000 square feet. Herrero Boldt Webcor holds the general contract. Rosendin holds the electrical and low-voltage scopes.
A Weekday Population on the Avenue
Steel and concrete deliveries continue through most of 2027. Site work runs Monday to Saturday. The published ladder sets 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. for quiet setup and column pre-heating, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for noisy work and 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for cooling.
Weekday lane shifts take part of Parnassus Avenue from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. for deliveries.
Those hours put a weekday population on the corridor from before dawn. The window closes after 8:30 p.m.
The Local Hire Split
UCSF pledged 1,000 union jobs and a 30 percent local hiring target for construction workers. The first CityBuild training cohort started on 22 April 2024.
A 30 percent local share leaves seven in ten crew members travelling in. The release publishes no headcount for either group and no origin for the crew.
The Capacity Behind the Arrivals
UCSF states the project lifts capacity 37 percent to 682 beds. It adds 22 operating rooms for a total of 40 and 31 emergency beds for a total of 70, an increase of 71 percent.
The release states capacity in beds. It carries no room-night figure, no rate series and no occupancy series for the district.
A Second Building on the Campus
The Bakar Research and Academic Building reaches activation in 2028. Its tower crane left the site in October 2026. That building adds weekday population two years before the first patient.
Where the Room Stock Sits
Campus point 505 Parnassus Avenue sits 4.6 road miles from Union Square and 4.3 road miles from Powell Street Station. The drive takes 13 minutes to Union Square and 12 minutes to the station (OSRM driving route, 19 October 2026).
Guests arriving for care reach that stock by car, by ride-hail or on the N Judah.
The Transit Money
UCSF committed $20 million to transit improvements near Parnassus Heights. The first payment, $11 million in April 2024, went to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency to augment the N Judah line.
What a Day-Use Operator Can Use
A daytime window on this corridor runs against a narrowed road and an occupied campus block. Two published items set the edges. Work runs 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and the delivery lane shift holds weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
No day-use inventory, hourly rate or daytime window for the district appears in this file. The published record ends at the construction clock and the campus addresses.
