The Zetter Collection signs its first hotel outside the UK
The Zetter Collection will open The Zetter 717 Amsterdam in early 2027. The signing takes the London group outside the UK for the first time. Boutique Hotel News carried the item on September 18, 2026.
The building
The property is Hotel 717, at Prinsengracht 717 in Amsterdam's Canal District. It holds 24 bedrooms. The front house dates to 1810 in the Empire style. The rear structure dates to the 17th century.
The property's own site lists the canal house as a Rijksmonument inside a UNESCO heritage site. That site states the building opened as a hotel in 1997, after a 1996 renovation, as the first luxury boutique hotel of the Netherlands, and that a major renovation followed in 2022. It states the property is currently undergoing a refresh.
The published inventory runs from a 12-square-metre Little Jewel on the top floor to a 22-square-metre Grand Heritage room with canal views. The site names two constraints the building places on any redesign: no elevator on the historic premises, and floors that curve in places.
Daytime inventory turns on those constraints. The site states rooms are ready after 15:00 and guests leave before 11:00. It states the Front Office Butlers can arrange a guaranteed early arrival or a late departure for a small fee. Those two windows are the sellable hours either side of a booked night. A 24-key house with no elevator sets a practical ceiling on how many daytime blocks a front desk can turn.
The designer
James Thurstan Waterworth of studio Thurstan will redesign the property. Waterworth led the design of The Zetter Bloomsbury, the group's London addition. Thurstan's own project page lists Zetter Bloomsbury among its work, and it carried no Amsterdam entry when this was written. The release gives no design detail beyond the two public spaces.
Two public spaces
The hotel will run two public spaces. The Garden Room takes a conservatory form and serves breakfast overlooking a private garden. The Library is an intimate room for drinks and small plates. The release does not say whether either space takes non-resident bookings. That answer decides whether a daytime business can be sold to guests staying elsewhere.
The group
The Zetter Collection's own site lists three London hotels: Clerkenwell, Marylebone and Bloomsbury. It lists Marrable's Hotel as managed by The Zetter. The site describes Bloomsbury as the newest hotel, steps from the British Museum. The site carried no Amsterdam entry at the time of writing.
The general manager
Yara Al Hattouni will run the property as general manager. Kevin Rockey, managing director of The Zetter Collection, gave the group's account of the move. Rockey called the opening "a natural next step for the collection" and said the group would "become part of the local community here in Amsterdam."
What the signing leaves open
The release gives no month inside the early-2027 window. It states no purchase price, no lease structure and no ownership split. It gives no date for closing the property to the work.
Four items remain unpublished for the daytime business: rate positioning for the 24 bedrooms, the staffing plan for the general manager, whether the Garden Room and The Library take non-resident bookings, and the date the property opens for reservations.
